Downtown Seymour Association
Hello!
The following is an update of everything that the
Downtown Seymour Association has accomplished since we became a part of the
community just two and a half short months ago!
We are officially Incorporated as an organization with
the state of Missouri as of January 17th, 2012. This means that we can move
forward in establishing ourselves as a not-for-profit, public-benefit
organization with the federal government. After we have accomplished this step,
any monetary donations will be tax deductible.
Our first event, the New Year's Eve Block Party was a
smashing success! Several businesses profited in sales that night, and there
were approximately 150 people around the square. This is an exciting step, and
we hope that this attendance will grow with every event we hold throughout 2012.
The event on New Year's Eve included raffles, live music, and carriage rides,
and we hope it will grow!
The first meeting of the year, was unfortunately held on
the worst weather day we have had this winter. For the brave souls that ventured
out to attend, thank you!!! Many good ideas and valid concerns were raised and
discussed. Attached are the minutes for this meeting and a summary of the SWOT
analysis exercise.
A calendar of events for the 2012 year so far includes
the upcoming
Chocolate Crawl, to be held during business hours on Saturday,
February 11th. Get a free piece of chocolate just by walking in the door!
Raffles, make-your-own-Valentines, and various promotions will be going on
throughout this event, as well as LIVE music at Cakebabyz Bakery and Tea Room.
Find the perfect gift for your sweetheart in downtown Seymour!
More events are in the works! Follow our Facebook page

A website is under construction!
downtownseymourmo.com
will allow you to keep up with events, meetings, workshops, and other happenings
downtown.
Our Board of Directors is soon to be appointed! If you
are interested in serving on the Board please respond to this email with your
intent. A luncheon is planned to get to know the Board, and how they will help
to guide the organization. We will also hold a committee workshop at this
luncheon, which will be at Cakebabyz Bakery & Tearoom. The cost will be $5.00
and your choice of spaghetti or alfredo will be served! More details coming
soon!
DSA NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!!! Please contact Kelly Shaner if
you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities with DSA!
We are focused now on establishing a shop-local campaign
to promote the downtown Seymour district, and moving forward with our
establishing our non-profit status. Keep an eye on DSA and watch us grow and
make a difference in Seymour, Missouri!
Have a great week!
